►►►Some impressions of the Mount Bahile Day-Hike

It was a nice fast day-hike with a beautiful scenery, from fruit and vegetable farms, over river and creeks, climbing up an ultramafic rocks and then through thedeep forest until we reached the peak 747m over sealevel with an awesome 360° view over Palawan. And also great was that this mountain has no tourists and also when we climbed up we were the only people far and wide there in this great part of prestine nature. Our friendly Guide Ferdinand Lardizabal Jr. guided us up to the peak and down.

- Thanks to the P.I.K.N.I.K.E.R.S. Mountaineers with Carlo Cruz (who invited me to join the exploration), Ver Jhon Duran (who was my first contact person and gave me the contact to Carlo) and Regor Olegna Aragna Omolap (who runs mountains so fast up without getting exhausted). It was a great and difficult experience. I didn't expect it so hard. I knew we have to go through a rough jungle environment but I didn't know we have to climb up 90° walls while we hold on roots.

►►►Boracay dream beach or mass tourism spot?

- Boracay has the most finest powder sand that I ever have experience. It also has a quite nice underwater world and while snorkeling you can also feed all those beautiful fishes which eat you from the hand. But Boracay is full of tourism and much Philippine culture you won't find there. Overpriced stuff and also dirty places in my eyes nothing for people who seeking for adventure. This place is more for party people.

- For me, this adventure was the real Philippines, not like for the most, a safe ordinary culture-delimited, beach holiday, or resort stay with beaches crowded by tourists, or even boring sightseeing tours with locals who are already on tourism and try sometimes to fool with overpriced offers. For the whole review about my incredible stay in Polillo look HERE.

►►►Sabit - Hanging on the back of the Jeepney

- When you see a person hanging at the back of the jeepney it's called "sabit" (hang on). Some people who do sabit are hanging outside because the jeepney is full and some are taking a (ilegal) freeride. My record of seeing people hanging outside of a jeepney are 5 people. Here on the Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City you see it very common.

- Sunday, 9th April 2017 was the Hip Thrust Community Jam 4! in Intramuros. It was a big Parkour event with around 100 people who took part. Raven Cruzifix the organizer:

"The main purpose of the jam is to gather donations and give those to our less fortunate brothers and sisters especially the kids. We distributed around 80 bags this time! Their smile is enough for us to be happy and motivated to push the movement. Thank you so much for those who made this happen. I love you guys! Hip Thrust!"

►►►Mount Daraitan - Great Manila-GETAWAY

- If you are in Manila and you want to get away from the big city jungle, you want to enjoy a lot of variety, as well as an awesome view from the mountain top, great nature, with great spiders and lizards, without spending a lot of time and money, then Daraitan is just the right address for you. But this tour is not for sissies. On the Internet, the difficulty level is 4 of 9, but after rainy days it changes to 7-8. It is an adventurous climb, which I enjoyed very much, but some others will go out of breath on the road due to the slope and the hot temperatures.

►►►Best Money Changer I know so far in Metro Manila

- Who wants to change money in Metro Manila and who doesn't trust the money changer stores outside on the street and also doesn't want a worse rate at other more reliable money changers where you also have to fill out a paper than you should definitely go to "Moromax Money Changer" in the Robinson Place Manila. This is the best money changer that I know so far, reliable, reputable and at a rate of 53.4350 PHP/EUR you get an incredible rate of 53.25 PHP/EUR. In compare at the SM foreign exchange in the SM Malls you just get a rate of 52.10 PHP/EUR.

-

You can find the "Moromax Money Changer" in the top floor close to Timezone and the cinema. If you know a better money changer, please write me a personal message here under "CONTACT".

- To buy this map was a great decision for exploring the whole Metro Manila. I also highlight the ways that I already walked so I know exactly which part I haven't explored yet. Currently I just need the map to exploring new parts which I haven't seen yet but in my head I have already the greatest map of whole Metro Manila and where ever I am I will never get lost. 2015/16 I used the pink marker to highlight my ways 2016/17 I use the blue marker.

But I would just recommend in the week because on the weekend the village was so overwhelmed by tourists. - Lapu-Lapu was a ruler of Mactan in Visayas, who is known as the first native of the archipelago to have resisted the Spanish colonization. The modern Philippine society regards him as the first Filipino hero when he defeated with his soldiers Ferdinand Magellan on the 27th of April, 1521. ►►►Halo-Halo - Great Filipino Dessert

- Halo-Halo [mixed together] is a popular dessert in the Philippines. There are different variations but usually it includes "boiled sweetened kidney beans, chickpeas, sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno) and plantains sweetened with sugar, jackfruit (langka), gulaman, tapioca, nata de coco, sweet potato (kamote), cheese, pounded crushed young rice (pinipig). Most of the ingredients (fruits, beans, and other sweets) are first placed inside the tall glass, followed by the shaved ice. This is then sprinkled with sugar, and topped with either (or a combination of) leche flan, purple yam (ubeng pula), or ice cream. Evaporated milk is poured into the mixture upon serving." Source: Wikipedia

The best way to eat it is mixing everything together with the spoon.

►►►At the PNR train station - "Strong people don't put people down. They lift them up."

- In the week days at around 5pm at the Buendia Station you can watch an admirable but at the same time ridiculous occurrence. When the PNR train stops, the last railway carriages are standing in the middle of the street where further is no platform to board the train and passengers have to jump down to leave the train and the following passengers have to climb up. But here you can watch a very great social act of humanity. People helping the following passengers to get into the train by giving a helping hand to lift them up. Then they squeezing themselves inside of the often overfilled train.

And while passengers still trying to get into the train, the crossing gates are already opening and cars and other vehicles trying to  sneak around the train to fit through the narrow existing space while the train is still standing in the middle of the street.

►►►Learning by observation. An advice from your surrounding.

- A lot of people in Metro Manila who have a backpack carry it in the front to have the best protection against mga magnanakaw (thiefs). Especially in crowded areas you should where your bag in the front so you have always your stuff in your field of vision and you can even wrap your arms around it to make a fully protection. I heard from the locals that there are a lot of snatchers around some places but where ever I had been I never felt insecure and never somebody tried to steal stuff from me.

►►►"O Captain! my Captain"

- The oblation at the UP Diliman made by Guillermo Tolentino is the landmark and also the symbol of the University of the Philippines and it shows a man facing upward with arms outstretched, symbolizing selfless offering of oneself to his country. Tolentino says: "The statue stands on a rustic base, a stylized rugged shape of the Philippine archipelago, lined with big and small hard rocks, each of which represents an island. The “katakataka” (wonder plant) whose roots are tightly implanted on Philippine soil, is the link that binds the symbolized figure to the allegorical Philippine Group. “Katakataka” is really a wonder plant. It is called siempre vivo (always alive) in Spanish. A leaf or a piece of it thrown anywhere will sprout into a young plant. Hence, it symbolizes the deep-rooted patriotism in the heart of our heroes. Such patriotism continually and forever grows anywhere in the Philippines."

►►►Communting with Rail Transit System

- With the MRT Line 3 (Metro Rail Transit System) from Taft Avenue (Pasay City, Manila) to North Avenue (Quezon City) which are around 20km for just 28PHP (around 0,56 EUR). There is also the LRT (Light Rail Transit System) Line 1 and Line 2. In the Rush Hour the transits are overload full. At first you have to wait sometimes for a very long time until you get your ticket at the counter (get a beep-card and save time) then you have to wait until you can get into the transit and then inside you get literally squashed. But if you avoid the rush hour you have enough space and a really great and fast alternative to Jeepneys and Taxis/Uber-Cars because you just fly over the traffic.

Once I have also seen that a man was peeing at his own Jeepney. Feel free to pee? ►►►Mr. Kimbob - Korean Food Style

Mr. Kimbob with the best Bibimbob for just 99PHP and the large version for just 119PHP. I really love Bibimbob! MASARAP!

UPDATE: Mr. Kimbob changed their concept, the large version is not existing anymore. I asked them why and this is their answer: "Hello Chris. Great question. Management has decided to "rationalize" the menu and one of the items that was hit was the bibimbob size. In terms of back of kitchen and food accounting and alot more , the move to simplify the menu was made. This was made without sacrificing quality and freshness though. We have taken steps to standardize our servings as well. If you visit our stores lately,  might notice our standard portioning plates so that Mr. KIMBOB always serve the right and equal amounts of ingredients so our  customers are served equally." - 20.12.2016

►►►Timezone - Swipe to play

- In Timezone you can play various and interesting arcade games like Tekken, Pacman, Time Crisis and much more. You can also sing karaoke in the karaoke rooms and play at some gambler machine to win tickets which you can exchange for prices. If you want to play just go to the counter and get a card with load then you just need to "Swipe to play". I love especially the Street Basketball-Arcade. The Timezones you will find in various Malls, like SM Malls, Robinsons Place, Greenbelt, Glorietta, Trinoma and other places.

►►►The Filipino Spirit

- Even though I see so much beauty in the Philippines... there is also so much to see in the streets which fills the heart with pure sadness and injustice. One of the first things you will see in the Philippines is the great poverty... Street kids who knocking on the car windows to beg for money. Families who can barely survive. It really makes sad to see them on the streets trying to survive but they still have always a smile on their lips. This is what I call the Filipino Spirit... try always your best and never give up.

This graffiti "set me apart" express in my eyes the sad and frustrating side of the Philippines...
