I bought this flashlight around Raon in Quiapo at the Quezon Boulevard. The normal prize is 350 PHP (around 7 EUR) ask for "tawad" = bargain and you get it for 300 PHP (around 6 EUR)

CLOTHING [TEXTILES]

◦ I washed them in river water, in the ocean without soap and at the home of Nonoy with soap.

◦ space-saving; fast drying

◦ mostly useless but they can be a good protection in case of small wounds on the foot

◦ For drying my clothes while hiking I used a big clipper and a karabiner (see figure up)

Advice: In provinces you should always bring small bills, from 100 PHP and below, with you. Everything over 200 PHP bills can be already a problem for change. The best is to pay in an exact amount.

Advice: To what ever place you are going to, make always researches. Find several options how you can get there and how you can get back. See what is awaiting you at the spot and see if something is dangerous. Find significant places like the Municipal Hall, Hospitals, Police Station, a market. Have always a Plan B.

◦ When I walked without my backpack to Pulong Kukok and to the caves it was very useful and practical. I put just the most necessary things inside, e.g. my camera, a 500ml water bottle, my whistle, desinfection-spray, extra batteries, flashlight, etc.



A lot of plastic bags

◦ for separating my stuff

◦ keep stuff water-protected

◦ for laundry

◦ if you or somebody else has to vomit

 

2x Freezer bags

◦ Very tough and impermeable to water

◦ 2 freezer bags together good in combination with a big clipper to keep my camera complete water-protected 




IN ADDITION

▌Machete [Very useful in the jungle] (from Diber)

◦ for opening Buko, make a spoon out of a Buko shell

◦ cutting the way through the jungle
